I was a hopeless romantic.

Read too many L.M. Montgomery books I guess. Just simple things like walking in the moonlight would be so lovely. I'm starting to doubt those sorts of experiences will ever happen.

I suspect she was a hopeless romantic, too. I loved the Anne of Green Gables series of books and read lots of her others, too. Was then surprised to learn that she wasn't allowed to marry her passionate love because he was beneath her in status, and instead married a United Church minister, moved to Toronto, and suffered from depression. Ever since, I've seen the Anne books as her dreaming of another world, one that allowed her to escape from her existence in Toronto. But as for walking in the moonlight, don't give up hope. Those simple experiences are out there - it might be a matter of getting out there and appreciating where you are and seeing the loveliness in it all, as Anne always did. (And look for the kindred spirits!)

I never liked fiction or fantasy of any kind. Give me the reference section any day.

I sympathize OP but few guys read those books let alone embody that energy. Good luck finding your man! He’s out there somewhere.

Just because you're a shallow projecting vessel of ego who can't embody that energy doesn't mean you speak for the many men who do. The astounding arrogance of the "men" here with their constant patronizing advice never ceases to amaze. Where did the OP write they were looking for a man. Return to whatever crave/century you hail from.

I enjoy how in your fit of moral rage and condescension you have likewise assumed the gender of the poster you were replying to

No I'm not like that. The point I was making is the gender of the OP can't be assumed. Men can be hopeless romantics too and already have that energy. You hoped it was written by a woman and that's ok. You should be real with yourself about your feelings.
