Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries—take your pick because it’s officially berry season in the city.

Vancouver Farmers Markets (VFM) will be celebrating this fruitful gain by hosting its seventh annual berry festival at two of its locations: Main Street Station (1100 Station Street) on July 12 (2 p.m.) and Mount Pleasant (2300 Guelph Street) on July 16 (10 a.m.).

Its highly anticipated B.C. berry pie bake-off will be hosted at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market, which encourages amateur and professional bakers to join in on the family friendly event.

Judging takes place on Sunday, and those who enter the contest will have a chance to win prizes. Shoppers will also have a chance to sample the pie entries by donation.

Market-goers will also get to enjoy free tastings of fresh berries, receive special recipes and storage tips, and shop a variety of different berries offered by VFM vendors.

If you are keen to enter the berry pie competition because you want to be crowned Vancouver’s best berry pie baker, the entry deadline is tomorrow (July 12).
