There’s good news for B.C.’s screen industry as several locally shot U.S. television series have been renewed.

The CW Network announced today (January 7) that it has given early orders for the renewal of 13 of its current TV series for the 2020-2021 season. Seven of them are shot here in Vancouver.

Newbies Batwoman and Nancy Drew, both filmed here, have been renewed for second seasons.

In addition to Batwoman, other Vancouver-filmed Arrowverse series that have been renewed are Supergirl for Season 6, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for Season 6, and The Flash for Season 7.

Black Lightning, which is shot in Atlanta, Georgia, and isn’t part of the Arrowverse but is based upon DC Comics, will also continue on into Season 4.

In November, the series that launched them all, Arrow, completed shooting its eighth season, which will also be its last. Its two-hour finale will air on January 28.

Also coming back will be the witchcraft drama Charmed for Season 3.

In addition, the CW ordered 13 additional scripts for its forthcoming series Katy Keene, which is slated to debut on February 6. Katy Keene, a spinoff show of the locally shot Riverdale (which was renewed for Season 5), is based upon the Archie Comics series of the same name and its cast includes Ashleigh Murray formerly of Riverdale.

Other CW series not shot in Vancouver that have been renewed include All American (Season 3), Dynasty (Season 4), In the Dark (Season 3), Legacies (Season 3), and Roswell, New Mexico (Season 3).
