A popular local gelato shop that has undergone a change of hands in recent years is gearing up to open a new location on the way to English Bay.

Bella Gelateria, which operates at 1001 West Cordova in Coal Harbour, will open a location in the West End at 1752 Davie Street, the former location of Tim Hortons.

When the Georgia Straight contacted Bella Gelateria for more information, Bella Gelateria's operations director Cracote Comet said that details are currently unavailable but confirmed that it will be their second location and is not replacing their Coal Harbour shop.

After Bella Gelateria was put up for sale in August 2017, its gelato maker, James Coleridge, left to launch a new chainlet (Uno Gelato), which he has also since left. Meanwhile, new ownership took over at Bella Gelateria in October 2017.

Bella Gelateria’s gelato uses organic cane sugar and whole milk from Avalon Dairy and doesn’t use any artificial colours or flavours, while their sorbettos are water-based.

Their diverse and inventive gelato flavours run quite the gamut, including espresso with chocolate bark, fior di latte, black sesame, buko pandan, London Fog, Earl Grey tea, Thai coconut milk, and osmanthus flower—just to name a few—in addition to seasonal flavours. Sorbetto flavours include creamsicle, dark chocolate, pucker-up lemon, and yuzu citrus.
