gift recycle

My mother is regifting stuff she got last Christmas. The worst part is that some of the items were used and then put back into the box and sealed up, like a blender, spa set, vase and a salad set.She has saved boxes of chocolate that she received and she is going to regifting THOSE.I explained the chocolate will have spoiled by now, but to no avail.I cringe at how the reciepients will react.People who are regifted always know that they have been shortchanged somehow.

Way to go mom! An excellent alternative to shopping and participating in the mandatory consumerism of the season. I wish I had some items to re-gift!

I don't blame her

Christmas has become such a commercialized, buy-buy-buy, spend-spend-spend, stressfest, so I don't blame her. I don't blame her one little bit.

In fact, good on her for not getting caught up in the whole crazy hype.

i don't buy gifts for anyone any more- i am an adult and i buy things when i want them. The gifts i have bought for my parents or in laws are never things they really want or need, they are old they don't want these "things" any more, they want time with me and family!

She'll probably receive regifted presents in return. It's all good.

while there is nothing new in what she is doing, one does not need an excuse to skip the gifting besides the fact that they don't want to participate in it. but giving expired chocolates is just wrong.

Tacky

and cheap.
Re-gifting items you have USED.
Best she not give anything at all then be so tacky and cheap.
sorry. You can say what you want, but it is very unclassy.
a better woman would say, "lets not exchange any gifts this year", then to accept gifts and give used items.

You're all missing the point, its not about being materialistic, its about having manners, etiquette, and giving because you want too, not about receiving and passing your used items to someone else. YEAR old chocolates?? shameful.
