I confess

My confession is that if I could go back in time to before I became a parent, I wouldn’t do it.

The bigger question is how you don't damage your children who will definitely pick up on this. Yes, speaking from experience, we know when we're unwanted by the people we depend on to nurture and love us unconditionally, and yes, the damage from that is a lot, and long lasting.
Best you consult with professionals because the moment you chose to bring them into this world, you are fully responsible for their welfare and development. Don't pass the torch of dysfunction.

That is an honest confession! People will judge you from what you just confessed. But I find many people on here forget this is a “ confession “ column. One is allowed to confess anything. And we shouldn’t say you are wrong for feeling that. So I applaud you for being honest, but at the same time, I hope you will feel the joy of being a parent when you feel less stressed.

You're not the first, or the last who feels that way but parenting is a cult of sorts and the cult convinces you only the selfish won't have children.

I wish more parents had the courage to admit this. It would help us childless people who are INUNDATED with criticism for not having children - no matter the reasons. The narrative that parents are happy and non-parents could never be is exhausting, irritating, and hurtful in turns.

Not in this world and where it's going. If I survive the apocalypse then yeah okay I'll have kids. I'll have a harem and repopulate the world with my seed.

I love my children unconditionally. To an amount that I’ve been told isn’t healthy, by therapists. How they treat me affects me far too much, so I’m told. It’s not that I’m a bad parent, it’s that the pain that only your children can inflict on you is the worst pain in the world. Bar none. I don’t expect to be revered, but I do expect to be treated with the same respect that I treat them, considering that they’re not children anymore. That’s all. I just needed to say it out loud. Even if it’s only on here.

No kids.

There's no shortage of people who haven't the self-awareness to ask themselves if they are qualified to have children.

for posting this.

I do not want kids, I do not like kids. I had parents that didn't want kids, so why would I have them and do the same. BUT over and over I'm made to feel like I'm missing out because I don't have any.

Also, @No kids. Agreed. More people need evaluate what they have to offer a human before birthing one. Why bring up a child with no life experience, what can you offer them? I know not a popular opinion, but who wants to just exist. Life is about thriving!
