That few minutes that you have to wait for that light or god forbid they have to stop, will save you. Your life can change in an instant. One day you won’t be able to “scoot” across that crosswalk because of your injuries.

People like you are the type of idiot that causes accidents and then the poor driver who hits you is the one who gets charged. Grow up ffs.

If you're being sarcastic in a way that this story is about other people...okay....if you're being serious about yourself....you're pretty fucked up to think that stopping traffic is unnecessary for you to cross the street. You get lucky sometimes but if you live in Surrey you should abide by the lights and still watch out because the people here will run you over. They don't stop for red lights or at a red light to turn right. They speed through yellows at 80km/hr and I've even seen them miss the window for the yellow and just barrel through the red. Just yesterday I had the cross walk sign on for about 3 seconds with myself standing just off the curb of the sidewalk and a driver slowly pulls up, sees me, but still decides to go right while I'm standing there watching him do this illegal act. I wish I had something to throw at him.

But you’ll get flak because we live in the city of rule followers. Do you think anyone in NY waits for the light at the crosswalk? You’d be laughed at for doing that there.

You’ve never been to New York. Traffic is so thick that you just easily walk through without someone barreling at you.
