Platitudes

When someone says "2020 has been hard on everyone" it feels like they are telling me to "suck it up". It was harder on some people than others and could always be worse.

So condescending. Someone said that to me, and it felt like they were minimizing my 2020 dramas.

... if you work for Government and continued to be paid, you were able to keep buying stocks or whatever when everything crashed in 2020 and now you are sitting really pretty, just go look at SPY or other S&P 500 stocks.

This has been the most unprecedented transfer of wealth (it's different than how most work because most are overt, not covert, by preventing work) in history. Billionaires and Government Employees get richer, everyone else, well, we should have been smart enough to be either a Billionaire or someone working for Governments to-opted by them.

So? Just because some people had more misfortune than others, doesn't mean that it wasn't hard for everyone to lose so much freedom. Grow up ffs.

Don't judge people from the outside. You have no idea what they are going through or their struggles. You assuming that they have it easier than you and that they are only giving you platitudes is dismissing their issues. We have all had some hard times this last year. It's okay to acknowledge someone else's hardship without minimizing your own. Doubt they were saying "suck it up" to you. They were probably trying to relate, sympathize, and perhaps open a door to having a real discussion.

The intention is to move on... not everyone is able to handle listening to other people's problems... sympathy pains are a real thing.

I hate the motto"We're all in this together".No we aren't.Rich people are in it together, poor people are in it together. And I also hate "when things get back to normal".You mean all the inequalities, injustices, poverty and destruction of the planet "normal?" It wasn't normal before.
