I'm married

Yesterday I visited an old girlfriend from before. She is ill, in the hospital, and all alone. When I held her in my arms, it was like I was 25 years old again

Dan offers some advice on where she might find it.

This is really funny, if you are still in your 20s. Maybe kind of sweet if you are in your 50s or 60s or 70s.

It was 45 years ago. I loved her with all my heart and now she lives in homeless shelters
Quite the confession, op.

Some are dealt a bad hand from the start, while others are oblivious to how kind life has been to them. I'm glad you could be there for her.

So, I get the impression from this post that SHE actually helped you more than you helped her. A hug is nice, but pretty non-committal (if she is homeless, it might be nice if someone helped her find a place to live...). Making someone peel off 45 years, however, that is a pretty huge impact.
I am glad you were both able to connect and make each other's lives better.
very moving
