Low class

When you’re at the cashier, emptying out the store’s plastic basket, clear it out of the way FFS. To just leave it on the floor, where you are standing, impeding the flow of the lineup of people behind you is quite frankly assinine and self centred. You think I’m going to do it for you? You think they even have staff to do this for you? In 15 minutes, 2 different stores, 2 different plastic baskets on wheels, with the same type of consumerist turd that should stay at home bedrotting and shopping online, so that we can shop without classless bodies who don’t know shit about civility.

Usually but not always…

I always try to do that, but there are some stores I shop at that don’t have any place to put the basket once you’ve emptied it. They literally have no place at all to put it near the checkout, and unless you pick it up and walk all the way across the store with it to where you got it when you walked in, while at the same time trying to carry your bag of purchases, you have no choice but to leave it. I’m blown away by the total lack of service provided to the customer in stores like this. It’s as if they’ve just decided to thumb their nose at us completely.

I have noticed that the grocery store is actually an arena where the hoi-polloi play out their passive-aggressive games. The little bar on the checkout conveyor belt that divides your groceries from the next customer's groceries is a favourite game... who will be the one to place it? First to move it loses the game.

The packaged meats case and bakery section are also great places to watch hostilities play out... are those croissants or metaphors for personal space? one might well ask.

My personal favourite is the 16-item anarchists slipping through the express lane... is nothing sacred?
