St. Patrick's Day 2021 in Vancouver: Food and drink specials from burgers to cocktails

    1 of 5 2 of 5

If you’re still trying to figure out how to have a great craic (good time) on St. Patrick’s Day today (March 17), here are a few suggestions from Vancouver eateries.

Some of them are available today only—so get these green-themed goodies while you can—while others are available for a limited time.

These are in addition to previously mentioned offerings and recipes from Fable Diner and Edge Catering.

Something to note is that, similar to New Year's Eve, temporary COVID-19 provincial health orders require all liquor sales to stop at 8 p.m. tonight, which includes food and beverage establishments.

      DownLow Burgers

      Burgers

Only available today and solely for dine-in customers, DownLow Burgers is offering a special St. Patrick’s Day burger ($15) at the American (926 Main Street).

This burger, inspired by St. Patrick’s Day beer, includes Guinness cheddar, Blackmail Stout Beer mustard, bacon braised cabbage, and a one-third, dry-aged beef patty on Livia’s potato buns.

      Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts

      Baked goods and stew

The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts is offering its version of Irish Guinness beef stew ($6 for small, $8.50 for large); as well as Irish soda bread, made from one of their chef’s family recipes ($8 per loaf); and chocolate Guinness cupcakes with white chocolate and Bailey’s ganache frosting ($4.95 each).

These items available at the school’s Blue Hat Bakery-Café (101–1505 West 2nd Avenue, at the entrance to Granville Island) until Sunday (March 21).

      Sequoia Company of Restaurants

      Fish and chips

For today only, Sequoia Company of Restaurants’ Sandbar (102–1535 Johnston Street, at Granville Island), Seasons in the Park (West 33rd at Cambie Street in Queen Elizabeth Park), and Cardero’s (1583 Coal Harbour Quay) are all offering fish and chips ($23) and Guinness beer ($10) and a special St. Patrick’s Shake with Bailey’s crème de menthe ($10).

Hy Steakhouse's Fáilte and Gotham Steakhouse's Irish Mule

      Cocktails

In honour of Ireland’s Patron Saint, two dining establishments will be mixing up a pair of exceptional Irish whiskey-based drink specials available today only.

Gotham Steakhouse and Bar (615 Seymour Street) is offering the Irish Mule ($17). It’s semi-sweet variation on the Moscow Mule, served in a copper mug. Traditional vodka is replaced with a nip of Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, in a mix of lime juice, simple syrup, ginger beer, and crushed ice, and all topped with a sprig of mint and a dusting of gold flakes—from a leprechaun.

Meanwhile, Hy’s Steakhouse and Cocktail Bar is serving the Fáilte ($17). Named after a traditional irish welcome (pronounced FAHL-cheh), it’s prepared with a mix of Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, simple syrup, fresh lemon, and lime juice; muddled with fragrant mint leaves; shaken with egg white; and strained into a chilled Glencairn whiskey glass.
