Transphobia

Face it, not is it only prevalent in fundamentalist churches & mosques & evangelical christians & other religious groups, plus certain feminist speakers & certain male frat boy type stand up comics (who ironically will always be single), who make crude jokes about women as part of thier act(s), but it's also among the mainstrean gay, lesbian & bi community.....that's if you don't "pass", if you do pass, you shouldn't have a problem

... adult human female.

Sex is biological. Gender is like religion, I mean, it's nothing anyone has to believe in. The Wall Street Journal recently had an editorial by two biologists stating the case for restoring sanity.

Passing is important. Maybe it shouldn't be, maybe lookism and beauty standards and cultural expectations should be eradicated...but they won't be. And so, passing is important, alas.

As for transphobia, my take is that a lot of what is called transphobia is not actually hateful but just uncomfortable reality. Which in no way excuses any of the rest of us from mocking, taunting, jeering at people who look different.

...but trans people are not really either gender. Not that it's a bad thing; having qualities of both recognized genders is far more interesting. Many cultures recognize a third gender that is distinct from male or female, and made room for them in society. Isn't acceptance for our basic humanity more valuable than a rigid demand to be recognized as something that we can never truly be?
