The flaw in the family

I was married to a woman years ago and was invited to her parents house for Christmas dinner. There were four of us and the turkey was the biggest the father could find. It was some way for him to brag, I guess, the turkey could have fed a football team and just the idea of so much food for so few people was disgusting to me. The father thought it was a display of opulence but to me it was a grotesque display of waste. There worst of it was after a few drinks and while we ate her father told us that his secretary had become pregnant and he fired her for some trivial, made up thing. He then said; "That will show her for expecting to get maternity leave from us!" My wife and I had a fight as we drove home. I wrote this because, even though I didn't see it at the time, that kind of psychosis ran right through the family and when I discovered that psychosis in my wife I kicked her out of my life immediately. The point is, if you're dumb enough to ever get married and you see something alarmingly strange in her family that it's well rooted in them too. So stay, the fuck, away.

I came from an awful family and left them because of how they were. I became opposite of everything they stood for in spite of them. Maybe it was the case with your ex, but not everyone is like who they grew up with. You should think twice before making such pronouncements because you might miss out on good people with that knee-jerk thinking.

Just because

Considering that psychosis is a state where one experiences things differently than those who are around them, you might be the one who is experiencing the psychosis. He who chases the dragon becomes the dragon. The hunt is always more satisfying than the kill. You have, in fact, become Nietzsche.

I love reading your view of others through your lens. Every one is imperfect and awful according to you. You also have proof, and examples which validates that you are right about everyone. Good job. I wish I could find someone who's self reflection is to hate on others and be proud of it.

You call someone else budget then proceed to make judgemental remarks about your own family.

I see this type of comment all the time. So just because a guy posts something that clearly doesn’t resonate with a lot of people, it’s because those people are against men. That’s just not true. This post is getting downvoted because it focuses entirely on the Op’s experience of his wife’s family, based solely on the limited examples he’s given. Leaping to the conclusion that his wife is psychotic because of the size of a turkey served by her family and an ignorant remark by her father, illustrates far more about the Op’s own biases than it does about his wife. Maybe they bought a big turkey because they wanted a lot of leftovers. Maybe a big one was all that was left for sale in the store. Sure, the ignorant remark about the pregnant employee was bad, but it was made by the father, not the guy’s wife. So unless the Op has a lot more evidence of his wife’s supposed psychosis, he’s going to get downvoted. I’d do exactly the same thing if it was a woman posting about her ex husband.

I used the 3 month rule starting at 17 and it took a lot of ladies until 1 passed the test at 28.
We've been married 28 years and she is still the same woman I married all those years ago.
Love Her
