You can get chicken bánh mì sandwiches at Starbucks Canada now

      Craving a Vietnamese sub for lunch? We never thought we’d be writing this, but you can now find this popular grub at your local Starbucks.

      The global coffee chain has launched a new line of artisan sandwiches at its Canadian locations to target the lunch crowd, and according to a press statement, the menu aims to appeal to “Canadian appetite for international flavours.”

      Its chicken bánh mì option features a demi-baguette filled with Asian slaw, black sesame seeds, and shredded chicken tossed in a spicy barbecue sauce.

      There’s also a Cubano sandwich made with smoked back bacon, sweet honey ham, melted Swiss cheese, and dill pickle topped with a spicy jalapeno dijionaise on stone-baked bread.

      Other sandwich flavours include chicken apple brie (with sweet apple-butter spread and arugla on focaccia), chimichurri chicken (with fresh baby spinach and creamy Havarti cheese on herb bread), and Caprese (with fresh Mozzarella, baby spinach, tomato, and basil pesto with balsamic glaze on focaccia).

       “Our partners (employees) identified an opportunity to appeal to customer appetites with more wholesome and hearty lunch options,” said Peter Furnish, vice president of marketing at Starbucks Canada, in a press statement. “Following more than a year of development, the result is our new artisan sandwich menu with its distinctly global flair.”

      We’re sure that you all have your favourite hole-in-the-wall spot to get a satisfying Viet sub, but it never hurts to know about another (easily accessible) place that carries this food item.

      Just make sure you’re not craving this sandwich from Starbucks on Monday, June 11—that’s when more than 1,000 Starbucks locations across Canada will close for a portion of the day to undergo training regarding “implicit bias.”

      The announcement of the training session comes after the unwarranted arrest of two black men at a Starbucks location in Philadelphia last month. The Seattle-based company will be closing more than 8,000 of its U.S. stores on May 29 to train 175,000 employees on unconscious bias.
