Steven Hodge from West Vancouver’s Temper Pastry to judge on new Food Network Canada show
Food Network Canada has revealed a new dessert competition series, and one member from the three-person judging panel helms from our city.
West Vancouver’s Steven Hodge of Temper Pastry (2409 Marine Drive) will be a judge on the Great Chocolate Showdown alongside celebrity chef Anna Olson and British cake designer Cynthia Stroud.
The new series will feature 10 home bakers taking on chocolate-based challenges, and the champion will get to take home a hefty $50,000 grand prize.
The only competitor from Vancouver is 47 year-old Craig Taylor, who works in the casino industry. The other bakers were scouted from Canadian cities like Montreal, Saskatoon, and Aurora, and a few are from U.S. cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
Another local component of the show is the sponsor. Vancouver-based Purdys Chocolates will be supplying the show with its decadent products, so viewers will definitely see the brand’s iconic purple-wrapped sweets being used in the kitchen.
The Great Chocolate Showdown will make its debut on February 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
