Although most shootings in Metro Vancouver involve police arriving at a scene after shootings have taken place, a shooting that took place last night involved gunfire allegedly aimed at police.

Investigators are now searching for the suspect, as well as as possible witness of the shooting.

Around 8:55 p.m. on September 10, a Surrey RCMP officer attempted to stop a black sedan (pictured above) heading westbound on 82nd Avenue just past 128th Street in Newton.

When the officer turned on emergency lights, the sedan driver fired two gunshots of their vehicle window at the officer, according to Surrey RCMP.

The officer pursued the sedan for a short distance before pulling over, in order to prevent further risk to the public.

The officer did not sustain any injuries in this incident.

Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle is urged not to approach it, and should call 911 immediately—the driver is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Surrey RCMP are seeking to speak with the driver of this vehicle, who is not a suspect but may have witnessed the shooting incident on September 10.
