A tiny gourmet gift shop inside a taxicab is coming to Vancouver

Local culinary business Edible Canada (1596 Johnston Street) and the award-winning Loden Hotel (1177 Melville Street) are collaborating to bring the cutest souvenir shop to Vancouver.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Loden’s iconic London-style taxicab will be transformed into the True North Taxicab: a gift shop that sells Edible Canada’s gourmet goods.

The taxicab’s exterior will be decorated with a Canada-themed wrap—donning the country’s signature colours and symbol: red, white, and a maple leaf.

A carefully curated selection of Canadian culinary goods will be available inside what may be known as the country’s smallest gift shop.

Featured items include organic maple syrup, honey, jam, sea salt, caramel popcorn, a wood-cutting board that comes in the shape of the country, and the Feast cookbook, among others.

The True North Taxicab will mostly be stationed at the Loden Hotel’s entrance, but will make appearances throughout downtown Vancouver and special events.

We don’t know about you, but this temporary attraction sounds enticing enough to scavenge the hectic downtown streets just for a photo-op.  Do it for the ‘gram (as in Instagram), right?
